More Than A Friend | The Story of Us

The Story of Us

Everyone loves a love story. Whether the story boasts of great feats to preserve love or soft moments that lead to romance, we all just love love. Actually, one of the first things I ask my couples is how they met! To me, it is such a good way to get to know them and their relationship! I especially like when they both tell “their side” of the story! haha.

Josh and I get asked about our love story all the time. It’s just one of those questions you ask couples. Ya know.. “So, how did you two meet?” It comes up a lot! We love telling it {and we have our sides of the story too. ;)}. So, we decided it would be fun to share it with you! Now, I will warn you, it’s quite a ride. So, hang on and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

More Than A Friend

“Do you have it with you?” Samantha asked. “Do I have what?” Josh responded playfully. She looked at him with a sassy smirk. “Do you have the ring with you?” she replied. He thought about it for a second. “No, I don’t have it with me,” he said through a smile.

Samantha knew Josh had bought a ring, and it was hardly a surprise. Their friends had started referring to them as Mr. & Mrs. Webber only weeks after they had started dating. Everyone knew it was coming. Josh had even shown the ring to some of Samantha’s best friends. He wanted to check and make sure she would love it. So, naturally, she tried to figure out when he would propose. But, tonight, he didn’t have the ring.

The sky was dark as Josh dropped Samantha off at her dorm room. They had spend the evening with friends laughing the night away. But when they got out of the car to say goodbye, Josh changed the plan. “Do you want to go for a walk?” he asked. “Of course,” Samantha replied

They walked the familiar paths of her college campus. Across the bridge, down the brick path, and past that same dark amphitheater. They knew this walk well. And, they knew they would always end up at that glittering, stone fountain. The multiple tiers, sparkling water, and warm light made it one of their favorite spots.

As they walked closer to the fountain, Josh started running. He curved around the fountain as Samantha ran after him. As soon as she caught up, he started slashing water at her. They laughed and splashed their way around the fountain before sitting down on the cold stone.

He put his arm around her. She leaned her head on his shoulder. Although it was 11 0’clock at night, it was anything but quiet. The hot, July air was filled with the sound of chirping crickets. The crickets were only slightly muffled by the sound of the fountain splashing continuously behind them. Josh pulled her closer. She could hear his heart beating fast.

“Do you remember the last time we had a water fight?” he asked. Samantha nodded and smiled. “It was the night that I asked you if we could just be friends,” he said. Samantha laughed, “Yes, I remember.” That night seemed like a different lifetime. So much had happened. So much had changed.

“Then, I fell in love with you,” Josh continued. “I’m so thankful that you’re my friend, but I want for us to spend the rest of our lives together.” Samantha looked up. Josh smiled at her. And then he took her hand and got down on one knee. Samantha’s heart started racing. She waited in silence. He pulled out a ring from his pocket. “Samantha Barron, will you be my wife?”

Samantha didn’t say a word. Her eyes locked on his. And in one motion, she scooted from her seat on the fountain’s edge, knelt on the stone walkway in front of Josh, and threw her arms around him. Her heart was flying faster and faster. Time seemed to be slipping away as they were locked in their embrace. “Is that a yes?” Josh whispered. Samantha laughed. How could she have forgotten to say something. “Yes,” she giggled. “Do you want to see the ring?” he asked. “Ooh! Yes!”

Upon further questioning, Samantha found out that Josh had the ring in his car while they were with their friends. So, he “technically” didn’t have it on him….

Also, here are some fun pictures of my first ring shot that night and some fun wedding dress shenanigans from the weeks to follow!

Kate Middleton dresses were everywhere! I gave some pretty legit princess waves that day.

And, the dress I picked. I actually found it online, but couldn’t find a store that carried it. We just happened to stumble upon it while shopping one day, and the rest is history. <3
