The Story of Us
Everyone loves a love story. Whether the story boasts of great feats to preserve love or soft moments that lead to romance, we all just love love. Actually, one of the first things I ask my couples is how they met! To me, it is such a good way to get to know them and their relationship! I especially like when they both tell “their side” of the story! haha.
Josh and I get asked about our love story all the time. It’s just one of those questions you ask couples. Ya know.. “So, how did you two meet?” It comes up a lot! We love telling it {and we have our sides of the story too. ;)}. So, we decided it would be fun to share it with you! Now, I will warn you, it’s quite a ride. So, hang on and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Just A Kiss Goodnight
The room was still. Samantha was pretty sure Josh could hear her heart beat. Her head was on his chest, and her pulse was racing so fast that it was echoing in her ears. And, she could hear his racing too. They hadn’t spoken for an hour. They just quietly sat there on the couch listening to a duet playlist that Josh had made. It had repeated at least 4 times by this point.
Josh held onto Samantha. She would occasionally look up at him. His breath would catch for those few seconds. He knew every word of the playlist. And, he was anticipating the song that was coming next. The Lady Antebellum lyrics kept echoing in his head, “And I don’t want to mess this thing up. I don’t want to push too far. Just a shot in the dark that you just might be the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life. So baby I’m alright, with just a kiss goodnight.â€
Josh knew without a doubt that Samantha would be his last first kiss. He had known for a little while now. And, he was finally ready. Ready to jump. Ready to fall. The next song started playing; the one he had been waiting for. He finally mustered his courage.
Samantha looked up at him. He looked back at her. Their eyes fixed on one another. Josh softly put his hand on her cheek. He gently pulled her in until their lips were almost touching. And then, he kissed her for the first time.
From that moment, there was no denying it. They were best friends, but now they were more. And, both of them knew, it was going to last for the rest of their lives.
A note from Josh (who helped write this post): Writing this blog now over five years into our marriage, she sits next to me with my fingers to the keys. She asked me if I’d like to be reminded of how it felt and gave me a big kiss. Admittedly, my heart still races. I’m so thankful she was my last first kiss.
