ORANGE COUNTY REGIONAL HISTORY CENTER WEDDING | LAUREN AND VALENTIN

The best man stood at the center of the dance floor.The microphone sat solidly in his hands. The room was dimly lit for Lauren and Valentin’s Orange County Regional History Center Wedding. The bride and groom were seated at the sweetheart table behind him. The audience sat before him. And all eagerly awaited what he would say. The maid of honor’s speech had already left so many eyes tear-filled. With sweet words to her sister, she recited a beautiful poem that touched her family and the crowd. And, now, it was his turn.

 

He took a deep breath. With a smile across his face, he began to tell of his adventures with Valentin in the Navy. He laughed as he described how they met. But, then, he quickly shifted. “Valentin always had a glow,” he said. He explained that he was puzzled by this. And until he visited Florida, he could never figure out why Valentin had such a glow. He took a breath. The room was silent. The audience was entranced. Waiting for him to continue. He smiled. After another breath, he described how he knew that Lauren, Valentin’s new bride, was the reason for the glow. He could tell by “the way he smiled and laughed around her.” He beautifully described the ways that he could tell that Valentin and Lauren had found true love. Tears started falling and hearts started melting. Smiles radiated from every corner of the room.

“I have a surprise for the bride and groom…” he said. “Will the bride and groom please come to the dance floor.” Everyone looked around. Trying to figure out what would happen next. Lauren and Valentin looked quizzical as they stepped out onto the dance floor. And, then, the best man, Valentin’s best friend, started to sing.

 

Lauren and Valentin,

I loved being apart of your wedding day. Watching the two of you laugh, cry, and be overjoyed together. It was an honor to witness your marriage and to be entrusted to capture every moment. Your “glow” throughout the day was evident to everyone. I wish you the absolute best as you begin your life as husband and wife!! And as you begin this journey, remember to let your friendship continue to grow and strengthen for the rest of your lives. Here’s to the next 50 years!!
