Happy Birthday to my sweet husband.
Between your last birthday and this one, a lot has happened. We have traveled to one of our favorite places of all time, Charleston. We saw our favorite band, One Republic, and sang our hearts our even though we were wet from the rain. And, our biggest change, we moved 922 miles across the country.
But, here we are, in a completely new state with a totally different life. And, you are still the same. I can always count on you to be a constant. So, for your birthday, I wrote 5 reasons that I love you.
1. You love others.
Plain and simple. I love that you love others like Christ. There is no mountain you wouldn’t climb for someone… anyone. Even if it was to your own detriment, it wouldn’t matter. As long as you could be there for someone else. That is a quality that I aspire to.
2. You’ve got killer dad jokes.
We don’t even have kids, but, oh, your puns…. How they have grown on me. When we were newlyweds, I would simply roll my eyes. And now, you have me giggling like a school girl. Or, better yet, I’m giving you the finger-gun/wink combo with a “I see what you did there.” Laughing with you is my favorite thing to do. And, I’m so glad that we continue to laugh more as our marriage ages.
3. You take care of me so well.
There really isn’t much explanation for this. You have just stepped up and provided in so many ways for us. And, for that, I am thankful.
4. I love singing with you.
Whether in the car, on our couch, or in worship services, I love our harmonies. I feel like my alto is 1200 times better with your awesome tenor voice beside me. And, don’t even get me started on how much I love your bass voice.
5. You love me, even when I am unlovable.
There is no better testimony to your love than this. Even on my worst days, you point-blank tell me that you would still choose me all over again. Even though I am a hot mess, you wouldn’t choose anyone else. And that means the world to me.
So, here’s to the next year of loving you! Let’s see what the next 12 months bring!
