4 Things to Bring to Your Getting Ready Room | The Engagement Series

Bride and bridesmaids sit on couch and laugh.

There is a lot to keep up with for your wedding day! You have purchased so many beautiful things, scheduled amazing vendors, and have the timeline buzzing through your head! So on your wedding day, it’s easy to forget what to bring to your getting ready room! (Josh and I actually forgot our programs! We had to have someone break into his house to go get them! Haha.)

So, here is a quick list of the must haves in your bridal suite! This will ensure that you have all the necessary items for a stress-free morning!

1. A Point Person

Wedding days can be filled with lots of last minute decisions. So, designate someone to field all the questions and help with any miscellaneous details. This person can be a planner, coordinator, family friend, bridesmaid, mom, or really whomever you’d like. But, just make sure everyone knows to talk to them first. And, if your point person still needs your decision, they can bring the question to you.

2. Emergency Kit

I’d recommend having an emergency kit with you to have in your room. It can be full of extra bobby pins, feminine products, allergy medicine, etc. I actually have an extensive series of emergency kit posts that you can look through to create your own kit! Click here to read them!

3. Comfy Shoes to Walk Around In

Whether it’s slippers or flip flops, keep those comfy shoes on as long as you can, girl! (Pro Tip: Bring them with you during portraits, so you can put on your comfy shoes as you walk to a new portrait location!)

4. A Sheet/Towel to Put Over Your Dress While You Eat

Afraid of getting your dress dirty? Bring a bed sheet or towel to drape over yourself while you eat. Yes, it will look like a giant bib. But, you gotta do what you gotta do!

5. A Box With Your “Details”

In the wedding magazine I gift each of my brides, I list what details to have in your getting ready room for me to take pictures of (rings, shoes, etc.) But, it’s also super helpful to have them all in one place, so you don’t have to go looking for each individual piece when your photographer arrives. So, just grab a shoebox and keep all of your details together!

5. Vendor Contact Information

You never know when you’ll need to contact a vendor on your wedding day. So, instead of hunting through emails while you’re getting your makeup done, have a sheet that has every vendors name and phone number. Bonus: give that sheet to your point person!
