CARMEL CITY CENTER ENGAGEMENT SESSION | JESSICA AND CODY

During their Carmel city center engagement session, I found out that Jessica and Cody are models in disguise! The two are so natural in front of the camera. Plus, they are so adorable when interacting with each other. Jessica’s giggly personality brought so much life and movement to our session, and Cody’s soft smiles added personable and sincere moments.

We started at the Center for Performing Arts in Carmel for their cloudy and cool engagement session. Frequently called the Palladium, the Center for Performing Arts had gorgeous white walls and gardens that surround the property. The gardens seemed to be a natural place to start as we walked, talked, and laughed through the beginning of our shoot. After shooting in the gardens, we walked across the street to the reflecting pool directly behind the Veteran’s Memorial. I love shooting next to water, so the reflecting pool was perfect for our session. We walked all the way around it, shooting at various angles as we went.

After a quick wardrobe change, we headed West to Coxhall Gardens. This is one of the loveliest places to shoot, and it didn’t disappoint. The willows, lakes, and the amphitheatre are some of my favorite things about the Gardens. So after making sure we had pictures next to the willows, we took some twirling shots at the amphitheatre to end our night!! <3

Jessica and Cody, it was such a blessing to get to know you two better and capture your love story! I loved seeing your distinct personalities shine through in your engagement images! I am so excited for you two, and I cannot wait for your February wedding!

BLUSH AND BLUE HOLCOMB GARDENS COUPLES SESSION | PAIGE AND EVAN

If you have never been to Butler University in Indianapolis, let me tell you about it. It is beautiful. There is a river running through the campus, giant trees all around, and flowers of every color! The garden on the Campus is specifically named Holcomb Gardens, and it is the perfect place for portraits! So, Paige and Evan’s blush and blue Holcomb Gardens couples session was full of beautiful scenery and lots of greenery!
Paige and Evan met in high school. The two dated for the rest of their secondary education years and have been together as long as my husband and I have been married! (5 years!) Now, the soon to be teacher and biostatician, are finishing up their collegiate careers and are still madly in love!
On the day of their couples session, Paige and Evan showed up for their shoot in the MOST adorable outfits imaginable! The blush and blue were absolutely perfect for the summer evening, and I fell particularly in love with Paige’s skirt!!! <3 The two rocked the first half of their session until it was time to change into their second outfit. Paige wore a flattering floral dress, while Evan chose the classic white and khakis. We enjoyed the session until the light was gone and a large branch crashed to the ground. We decided to call it quits, just in case another branch decided to fall. 😉

DREAMY AVON TOWN HALL PARK SENIOR SESSION | LIZ

Liz’s dreamy Avon Town Hall Park Senior Session was the highlight of last week! Liz and her mother are so sweet and kind! They were willing to try anything I asked and even laughed at my jokes!! The golden sunset hues, cool temperature, and slight wind also made this particular evening the perfect shooting conditions for her session!
We started Liz’s senior session at Avon Town Hall Park. This park is a gorgeous option because of the grassy fields and lake that are on the property. The rustic barn also makes a great backdrop for portraits! She chose an adorable pink top and some fabulous jewelry for this location. We also shot her volleyball portraits at the park as well! After finishing at the park, we drove downtown to the Indianapolis Canal Walk. There, we finished the session with sunset portraits in front of White River and also used downtown Indianapolis as a backdrop after the sun fell below the horizon.
This session was so unique and full of personalized props. We had so much fun shooting and the backdrops really complemented Liz’s hair and eyes! This session really does deserve the title Dreamy Avon Town Hall Park Senior Session.

HUMMEL PARK ANNIVERSARY SESSION | ABBY AND THOMAS

Abby met Thomas when she rear ended his car in their high school parking lot. And when Thomas walked into the same choir class that Abby was taking, she was mortified! But as the year went on, they became best friends in that very same choir class, and they eventually started dating. After high school, Thomas asked Abby to spend the rest of her life with him at DISNEY WORLD, and she said yes! And then they got MARRIED AT DISNEY WORLD. (Friends, dreams really do come true!) And now, they are celebrating their one year anniversary and undergoing IVF to conceive their first child.
Their lives tell a story of friendship, love, and perseverance. And their Hummel Park Anniversary Session beautifully displayed their journey together as best friends and husband and wife. However, their life together has not always been easy. For the past year, they have struggled with infertility. Ongoing doctors appointments, frequent surgeries, and daily shots have filled their first year of marriage. The heartbreak that occurs every single time that they are given negative results is overwhelming.
And yet, their joy is evident. Their faith is strong. And their love is abundant.
At our session, I was able to see all of these traits firsthand, and I am so thankful for it. My time with these two was incredibly special, and I loved learning more about their story. It amazes me that despite their struggle and the heartache from failed in-vitro sessions, they still strive to serve and support others. Abby even keeps a blog to help support other couples that are experiencing infertility.
The light that Abby and Thomas shine is so encouraging. Their storms do not consume them, and they use the strength they have to look outward. I am truly inspired and oh so thankful that I was able to get to experience their struggle and joy with them. It is a story that I will never forget, and a couple that I will never forget. I pray that the Lord blesses their marriage and their gives them a child.

SUNSET PORTRAIT SESSION AT HOLLIDAY PARK RUINS | CAROLINE

My evening spent with Caroline was such a lovely evening because SHE IS AMAZING.
I feel as if a statement that big needs some explanation. So, here it goes.
Caroline has a special talent, and I picked up on it immediately after meeting her during her portrait session at Holliday Park Ruins. She has the unique ability to make people feel completely comfortable around her, and, on top of that, you automatically know that she genuinely cares about you. Friends, her joy and laughter is so prevalent with every sentence that I feel as if we are already best friends. Her questions about your life are so honest and sincere that conversation flows so naturally and beautifully. And I feel as if you can see that honesty, sincerity, and joy in her images.
Caroline and I arrived at Holliday Park about an hour and a half before sunset. We walked and talked as we looked for gorgeous light in which we could start her session. She started the session in a pair of cute denim jeans and a white blouse. We used this outfit to take a lot of shots with greenery in it. After a quick change into a blush top and white pants (I was super excited about the color combination.), we headed over to the ruins. We found a perfect spot to take pictures nestled back in between parts of the ruins!! So we shot there… a lot. The old brick and weathered architecture were such a lovely backdrop that we didn’t want to leave. But, eventually, we knew we had to move on… and I am so glad that we did.
Caroline quickly changed into a flowing, pale blue top for the last section of our portraits. Sunset was in full swing by this time, and Caroline and the light were GORGEOUS. We pulled her out in front of the ruins to shoot her with the sunset and the lighting was wonderful. She seemed to glow as we took the pictures. I felt that it was a perfect end to our session, and I am happy to say that I gained a lovely friend that night.

INDIANAPOLIS REALTOR PROFESSIONAL PORTRAITS| MAGGIE MIZELL

I was recently blessed to have a change of pace for my business. Maggie Mizell, an Indianapolis real estate agent, approached me about taking realtor professional portraits. I was more than excited to help her and provide images for her business. We decided to do a sunset session at the Center for Performing Arts in Carmel. And friends, it was an awesome decision. The weather was beautiful, the sunset was gorgeous, and Maggie rocked her session. It was such a rewarding experience, and I hope to be able to support other local businesses in the near future.

WHIMSICAL AND URBAN SUMMER SESSION | LAUREN

Lauren and I had a blast while we shot at various locations downtown during her whimsical and urban summer session. Her continuous smile and her mother’s adorable encouragement made this session fly by! We started our session in downtown Indianapolis at the Indiana War Memorial. The creamy stone made Lauren’s blue dress really pop in contrast.

After some time at the memorial, we wandered to the park directly beside the memorial. Here we used the fountain as a backdrop for Lauren’s next outfit! The whites and blues complemented her blush top and white pants! This pairing was my favorite part of the whole session!!! And since we loved this outfit so much, that we kept it on for our time on the canal. At the canal, we found blooming lavender (Lauren’s favorite color just happens to be purple!!) that made an AMAZING backdrop for a few shots.

As we continued, Lauren changed into her last outfit. The darker bohemian vibe paired well with the sunset during the “golden hour” of her session. As the sun set and we finished, we turned Lauren around for a few quick images with the city right behind her. Her expression in these images are some of my favorite because of her vibrant laughs that accompany the orange glow of the sunset.

BACKYARD WEDDING IN BROWNSBURG, INDIANA | MEICHI AND CHAD

Meichi and Chad’s rustic, backyard wedding in Brownsburg, Indiana was a dream. Both the ceremony and reception were located at Chad’s childhood home. This intimate location made the day extremely special to their friends and family. Everyone felt so comfortable throughout the wedding which led to a very inviting atmosphere that allowed guests to truly enjoy Meichi and Chad’s big day.
The morning of the wedding was so relaxing and fun for the bride and the bridesmaids. They all spent the early hours getting their hair and makeup done with smiles and giggles filling the room. Once Meichi was completely ready, her mother and bridesmaids helped her put her wedding gown on. The excitement on her face was unforgettable. You could see that this moment was becoming real and that she was so ready to marry her best friend. After her mother buttoned her dress and put her pearl necklace on, she was ready for pre-ceremony portraits.
We started formal portraits by taking images of Meichi and her bridal party. Throughout the portraits, the adoration on each of the bridesmaid’s faces were so telling of their love for the bride. I loved witnessing those special bonds between each of them. Shortly after, the groom and groomsmen arrived at the ceremony site. We finished portraits with the groom’s party because the bride and groom did not want to see each other before the ceremony.
Soon after, guests started trickling into the ceremony. The guests were seated in front of the lake on the property where a beautifully decorated arbor awaited the bride and groom. The tension built as the ceremony started and the wedding party entered the ceremony from the house. And finally, the groom saw his bride for the first time. His face lit up as he smiled down the aisle. A smile that was eagerly returned by the bride. The ceremony was sweet and traditional, and the performance of an original song by the father of the bride was emotional for all of the guests.
After the ceremony, the Meichi and Chad personally greeted each of their guests at their seats. This was such a special and unique way for the bride and groom to see and hug every person in attendance on their big day. It was also a wonderful way for me to capture a picture with every guest at their ceremony. Once the guests had been greeted, we took family and wedding party portraits, and the guests were treated with dinner. Dessert, dancing, and toasts immediately followed dinner. The maid of honor, best man, and father of the bride all made speeches that either left the crowd in tears or fits of laughter.
As the reception continued, the bride and groom snuck off to take “golden hour” portraits at sunset. These were my favorite images from the entire day. The images so perfectly summed up the bride’s infectious smile and their sweet astonishment of being Mr. and Mrs. The night ended with the bouquet and garter toss as the sun crept below the horizon.
Meichi and Chad, your kindness and sincerity was what stood out to me from the beginning. You are best friends and your love is evident. I pray that your marriage is a blissful reminder of how you felt on your wedding day. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be apart of your forever.

SUMMER SENIOR SESSION IN DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS | MIKAYLA

On Saturday, I had the absolute pleasure to spend time with Mikayla and her mother. We chatted, enjoyed late night ice cream, and, of course, took quite a few pictures for her summer senior session!
We started Mikayla’s session with portraits at a basketball court. She loves and plays basketball so much that it was only natural take pictures on a court. However, we wanted to make it a bit unique, so we stopped at the IMA’s Hundred Acre Woods. Outside the park, there is a giant basketball court/exhibit. Although it would be confusing to play on this court, the pictures were very cute.
After that, we headed to the Indianapolis canal. And the bridges, parks, and city were all a perfect backdrop during the session! We were able to easily get urban and natural settings! Oh, and friends, the sunset was gorgeous! We took the most beautiful portraits of Mikayla at sunset.
We ended her summer senior session with milkshakes from Steak ‘n Shake. It was a gorgeous session and delicious ice cream.

SUNRISE SENIOR SESSION AT FRIENDSHIP GARDENS | ASHLEY

Ashley’s sunrise senior session at Friendship Gardens was amazing! As part of her session, we took pictures at Friendship Gardens in Plainfield, Indiana at 8am!! She was brave to take a sunrise session!! And even though it was early, she and her lovely mother were such a joy to spend time around.

Just a few minutes into the session, Ashley was a natural in front of the camera. Her laugh is so natural, and she is so talented! During the session, we took images with her viola and her soccer gear. (Guys, this girl plays the viola and soccer! How cool is she?!?!) I have to admit that I loved the viola pictures…. They are so classic and elegant!
